Co-op Coordinator, Computing, University of Guelph
Kate's journey in the tech industry began with a degree in Information Technology, where she discovered her passion for connecting people and fostering talent. Her career has taken her across North America, navigating roles in employer development, career advising, and contingent workforce management in the vibrant tech hub of Silicon Valley and within the Tech Corridor in Ontario. Currently serving as a Co-op Coordinator at the University of Guelph (Canada), Kate dedicates herself to empowering students in the School of Computer Science to navigate the dynamic landscape of tech employment. Kate's dedication stems from her belief in the transformative power of technology and the importance of fostering meaningful connections and bridging the gap between early talent, industry needs, and higher education.
In this interactive and discussion-based session, we will chat about the dynamic landscape of tech internship/co-op recruitment from an academic institution perspective. Together as industry partners, we will explore the challenges, successes, and ongoing initiatives aimed at bridging the gap between academia and the tech sector.
