We’re back for another Community Spotlight! This time, we’re featuring Bridget King, Talent Acquisition Manager, Early Professional Hiring at IBM.
OR Team: Hey Bridget! Tell us about yourself and where you work.
Bridget: I’m a Talent Acquisition Manager working in Early Professional Hiring at IBM. I’ve been with IBM for 5 years, and oversee IBM’s North America campus recruiting, specifically the internship program, diversity programs, campus events, and branding. Previous to my current role, I was responsible for IBM’s Canadian campus recruiting. I love working with students and recruiting the best and brightest to join IBM! Our team is always looking for new ways to innovate and reinvent traditional campus recruiting. I’m especially proud of the work we did this summer to create a world-class virtual internship program for over 1,200 students across North America.
OR Team: How did you get involved with the Talent Acquisition Community and how have you given back?
Bridget: My first exposure to the URx community was joining the Toronto meetup that happened last year (seems like forever ago in COVID-era!) After attending that meetup and getting to know other like-minded individuals who were passionate about making a difference in university recruiting and diversity hiring, I became a volunteer! I was a speaker at the May URx Conference and am now on the core committee as the Community Engagement Lead.
OR Team: What is your favorite part about being so involved within the community?
Bridget: I love being part of the Talent Community because working together we can drive so much progress forward and truly make a difference for students.
OR Team: What do you do outside of work and URx?
Bridget: I live in Toronto, and I love baking cakes, running (training for half marathon), and traveling!
Thanks Bridget for telling us about your community story! If you are in our Talent Community, message Bridget on Slack or connect with her on LinkedIn.
